ClimatePoint was founded in Oslo 2019 with an ambition of creating a new form of climate compensation. Through the works of Widerøe, it quickly became clear that no trees, no dams or no cooking stoves would ever help with the challenges faced by a short haul airliner. The question thus remained; how could Widerøe be part of speeding up the electrification of airplanes?
ClimatePoint spent much of 2020 building the structure and team before ClimatePoint along with the first Norwegian companies, completed the first climate investment into early stage solutions, allowing the capital needed to get the new ideas and the new companies off the ground.
ClimatePoint in 2022 has the Green River Fund in full operation, and equally important along with TU Delf and Leiden University, a methodology of scoring the climate impact of new technologies.
Our funds are approved by the Norwegian Financial Service Administration and our core fund, the ClimatePoint Green River Fund, is European Venture Capital Fund certified.
